2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, CLA, GLA recalled, concern airbag detaching

Mercedes-Benz recently issued a recall notice for the 2019 model-year A-Class, CLA and GLA vehicles due to concerns regarding the airbags which could detach while driving.

The company officials explained the defect as, "The four lock nuts for fastening the airbag may have been installed incorrectly.” and warns, "the airbag may detach from the base plate and enter into the vehicle interior at high speed, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of an accident".

A VIN list of a total of 268 vehicles for the three compact model lines ( sold from 1 April 2019 through 30 September 2019) is provided by the automaker which may get affected by the aforementioned defect.

The vehicle owners of the affected cars can contact the nearby Mercedes-Benz dealers to organize a free repair of the defect. Further, the original notice provided by the company can also be checked.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Benz CLA engine bay also gets the same powertrain but churns out more output, 163 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.

A few days back, Mercedes-Benz recalled 2018-19 Mercedes-Benz A-Class due to concerns regarding the protective plate under the spare wheel of the vehicle. The firm referred the defect as the 'protective tinplate' under the spare wheel recess could crack on its outer edges. The recall list included a total of 21 vehicles.

Before this, Mercedes-Benz also recalled 2019 Sprinter van due to concerns regarding the proper functionality of the tail-lights, which included recall of 875 vehicles.
