Acura teases Type S concept with a nine-second long video and a still photo

Acura, the luxury arm of the Japanese automaker Honda, has teased the upcoming Type S concept, which is scheduled to make its debut in the Monterey Car Week on 15th August. The slinky four-door sedan is teased with a nine-second long video and a still photo.

From the video, one can identify the concept will come with shapely sedan-like silhouette, relatively short front, rear overhangs and cab-rearward styling. It seems that the Type S Concept is the preview of the next-generation TLX. The front fascia, side profile and taillights get a fresh look and the leaked image is identical to the TLX designs.

However, if the Type S Concept is a preview of the new TLX, it will not surprise the auto enthusiasts as the trademark was already launched by the Acura's parent company, Honda during October 2016. However, if it happens, then the forthcoming TLX Type S is likely to come with a more powerful engine and a stiffer suspension tuning. Also, braking capabilities are improved.

Though the Type S Concept is based on the rear-drive system, the production model will underpin the front-drive system. The Type S will include the torque-vectoring (SH-AWD) Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system of Acura. However, it is not clear whether the power rearward by way of a prop shaft or a separate rear-mounted electric motor will be used.

Acura has also made it clear that the 'Type S' performance sub-brand will be returned with the 'Type S' performance. However, the carmaker has not spoken much about which model will get this treatment first.
