BMW reveals M340d xDrive; not coming to Australia

The BMW M340d xDrive is all-set to debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. However, the automaker has revealed the car ahead of its official unveiling. It will sit comfortably as the close sibling to the M340i xDrive, the petrol version.

The soon-to-debut BMW M340d xDrive will be available in both sedan as well as wagon body types. Moreover, it will even pack a 48V starter/generator, which packs in around 11 PS more. However, even with that extra punch, it manages 340 PS of power, which is still significantly lower than the petrol counterpart. But yes, since it is a diesel powertrain, there is additional torque of 200 Nm available, which takes the total figure to a whopping 700 Nm.

As expected, the BMW M340d xDrive sedan can hit the 100 kmph sprint from a standstill in 4.6 seconds, while the wagon can do the same in 4.8 seconds. Of course, you have the aerodynamics and weight making the difference.

This diesel-power M Series BMW is set to be revealed fully at the upcoming 2020 Geneva Motor Show. However, according to a spokesperson at BMW, the car will not be launched in the Australian market. The M340i xDrive sedan will continue to be offered.
