Tenth-gen Honda Accord to arrive in Australia in December 2019

Honda Australia has confirmed that the tenth-gen Accord sedan is all set to arrive in the domestic market in December 2019. The specifications and pricing of the vehicle will be revealed at the time of its debut. 

The new generation is likely to come up with two turbocharged four-cylinder mills - 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre turbo four. The former is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 192 hp along with a peak torque of 260 Nm. There is a six-speed manual transmission, which sends the power to the wheels. Also, there is an option to upgrade it to CVT automatic. 

On the other hand, there is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can push out a maximum power of 252 hp, with the peak torque stick at 370 Nm. It is paired with the brand’s exclusive 10-speed automatic gearbox.

A hybrid variant is also available in overseas, that has a combination of an electric motor, a 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol mill and a battery. However, as per the local division of Honda, Accord will not get a petrol-electric version, at least at the time of launch.

On May 2018, Honda Australia confirmed that the Honda Sensing active safety suite would be standard across the upcoming Accord lineup. Stephen Collins, the director of Honda Australia, said, "Honda is committed to bringing cars to the Australian market that are competitively priced and value-packed as possible, and having the very best in safety technology is one of our highest priorities." 

He also added, “While we are not first to market with this technology, we strive to ensure we are best to market. I'm confident that our Honda Sensing package will provide Australian customers with a system that is intuitive and effective in its role of driver assistance."
