Vega EVX sports car to debut at 2020 Geneva Motor Show

The upcoming Geneva Motor Show is set to be one exciting event, thanks to the attractive debuts and interesting concepts that automakers would treat the enthusiasts. One such interesting debut would be of the Vega EVX, a sports car by nature.

The automaker, Vega Innovations, is based in Sri Lanka and has announced the debut of the sports car officially. However, this is no ordinary sports car and boasts of being South-Asia’s first electric sports car.

The Vega EVX is built with sporty genes. It bears a close resemblance to the Ferarri 488, especially with on the front fascia. There are a lot of bulging accents, like the front fenders, along with large side air-scoops. There are large carbon fibre accents too, along with a strip of LED light that connects the taillights. The car has a total weight of 2,090 kilograms.

Under the hood, the Vega EVX is powered by two electric motors, both of which make a combined power output of 804 bhp, along with a peak torque of 760 Nm. The power is good enough to accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in around 3.1 seconds, which is great for any sports bike.

Vega EVX side profile

The engine draws its power from a 55 kWh Lithium-ion battery which could offer up to 300 kilometres of driving range. However, as per the automaker’s previous claims, it could even be offered with a bigger 130 kWh battery pack for a higher 750 kilometres range.

Vega still has some patent-pending traction control inverter features that would help the car be lightweight. This would even include a liquid-cooled technology on a pin-fin baseplate to enhance the longevity and reduce cost at the same time.

Vega has a lot of other projects in mind. The automaker is also planning to develop mass-market vehicles for passenger transportation in collaboration with its partners. More details on this, and also on the EVX, would be intimated once the electric sports car is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
