Recent Updates of Kona

Hyundai made a delayed entry into the compact SUV segment with the Kona. The Kona looks all sporty, adventurous, and bold. The standard Hyundai grille gets a little tweak on the Kona, belted by slim and angry little headlights. The side-profile and lines are pretty prominent, giving it an aggressive stance. Flashy faux and plastic add-ons have been used abundantly. Inside the cabin of the base variant, you get a floating 7.0-inches tablet with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sturdy cloth seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Other features include dusk-sensing headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, rear-view camera, cruise control, and the Hyundai Auto Link app. The Kona is available in three specification levels called Active, Elite, and Highlander. All three are available with two drivetrain choices: a non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with a six-speed auto and front-wheel drive, or costlier turbocharged petrol with a dual-clutch auto transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). The price range starts from $24,500 and goes up to $36,000 (all prices are MSRP). The 2019 Hyundai Kona primarily competes against the Mazda CX-3, the Mitsubishi ASX, the Subaru XV and the Toyota C-HR.

Kona Overview

Hyundai’s compact SUV, the Kona was late to the party. Pretty much everyone got a jump on the Korean giant before this car came out. This happened because Hyundai was busy spinning the i30 on which the Kona is based. This small SUV gives off all the fun vibes. It's in competition with cars like Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V. Hyundai Australia offers this car in six trim levels, Go, Active, Elite, Highlander, Electric and Iron Man Edition.

The exterior of this car looks very striking and appealing. The cascading front grille with a mesh pattern gives this car a bold and sporty look. Kona comes with a unique edgy spilt design front headlamps, which not only looks fabulous but also provide a great amount of visibility at night. While the top LED DRLs makes your car visible in any weather. The sleek dual tone roof and bizarre roofline enhance the overall design of the car. There are a variety of alloy options available for the user, starting from 16 inches in Active to 18 inches in Highlander. Other exterior features that make this car attractive are extended fender cladding, rear spoiler, silver rear skid plate, rear privacy glass, front fog lights and LED rear combination lights.

It’s what’s on the inside that counts and the best way to describe the interior of Kona is ‘functional’. There are tons of customization available for the interiors, which lets you create your own Kona that suits your personality. Getting inside this car, you get all the premium feel such as the leather-appointed steering wheel, seats and gear knob. It also features a heated steering wheel, which keeps your hands warm and comfortable even in coldest of weather. The sunroof is available on Highlander trim, which allows the user to fill the cabin with light and air. This, in turn, can be controlled with the touch of a button. This car comes packed with high-end technologies. It features a heads-up display, which helps the driver to focus on the road. The 8 inches touch screen display is integrated with satellite navigation, which even provides alerts about speed limits. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard in the infotainment system. Charging your device is now easier with the wireless charging pad.

Kona features two robust engines. The user can choose from either the 2.0 L 2WD or the 1.6 L AWD. The 2L is capable of producing 147 hp of maximum power and 180 Nm of peak torque. The power is transmitted through a six-speed automatic. This engine uses Atkinson cycle technology that helps to deliver better fuel economy. The 1.6L churns out 174 hp of power and 265 Nm of torque. This motor uses a mixed flow turbocharger that produces sharp throttle response, outstanding low-end torque, and good fuel economy.

This car is rated with five stars ANCAP safety. Thanks to loads of safety features such as driver attention warning, tyre pressure monitoring system, blind-spot collision warning, high beam assist, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert, and a rearview camera.

I was keen to buy a car that I can rely upon yet being realistic in every aspect. After much of online research, I decided to buy the Hyundai Kona Electric. The reason behind is this front wheel driving car gives speedy and brilliant performance. Again how can I forget to mention on the comfort factor. I read and later Read More

Hyundai Kona is a great car to have, by all means, it is stylish, fully loaded with features, has an amazing safety kit, and more. I personally love the large front grille, as it gives the car a distinctive look. Also, with over 150 styling and mechanical options expressing your personal taste becomes easy. The cabin is wide, tall, and Read More

Before going forward with the Hyundai Kona, I was sceptical about it, for it looks more like a hatchback on stilts with off road design bits, rather than an SUV. However, the visual appeal of the Kona is simply refreshing, and I particularly like the cladding job around the headlamps and lamps on the rear bumper. Even the floating type Read More

While other compact SUVs try to look intimidating and rugged, the Hyundai Kona manages to pull off that attempt very effectively. The most impressive highlight of Hyundai Kona’s exterior design, for me is the way the headlamps and tail lamps are designed, with a soft casing around them giving the Kona a distinctive appeal. However, I do wish that the Read More

I drive the Kona Elite - FWD automatic and feel that although its a great car, there is room for improvements here and there though. The bold styling and attractive paint schemes are fantastic. There are loads of colours to choose from; I have the Ceramic Blue one which looks terrific on the roads. It offers great comfort inside the Read More
